Which games work?
Playfellow works with offline, single-player Windows games. Some are easier than others.
## The practice arena Playfellow comes with a practice arena: a simple game that always works. Start there to test that everything is set up. ## What works well ✅ Puzzle and turn-based games: Chess, Solitaire, grid puzzles, roguelikes. ✅ 2D action and platformers: Jumping, dodging, collecting. Games like Celeste, Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley. ## What's harder ⚠️ 3D games: Fast 3D action is tricky for AI buddies. They're getting better, but expect mistakes. This is part of Day 7 of the course (why is this so hard?). ## What doesn't work ❌ Online multiplayer games: Playfellow is for single-player only. Using AI against real people isn't fair, and many games ban it. ❌ Games with anti-cheat: Some games block any tool that presses keys. Try the practice arena first. ❌ Fullscreen-only games: Playfellow needs to see the game window. If a game only works fullscreen and won't let you window it, it might not work. ## Tips - Start simple: Try the practice arena, then a puzzle game, then something harder. - Windowed mode: Playfellow works better when the game is in a window, not fullscreen. - Controls card: Make a clear controls card with only the keys the game needs.
